We are bus people––first and foremost. Here at Double Decker PDX we are passionate about entertaining as well as preserving the original beauty of historic treasures like our 1959 Bristol Lodekka. However, we also care deeply about our planet. We are aware of the profound effect businesses can have as members and role models in their communities, and as such it is important to us to be environmentally conscious and do our part to both limit and reverse our carbon footprint. Our sustainability practices are twofold: For the underbody of our iconic bus we went the extra mile by adding a modern engine, transmission, and braking system to ensure complete safety and reliability in addition to the ability to run on biofuel. Furthermore, when designing our interior we made the effort to use as many sustainable materials as possible. Our White Oak bar came from a tree that fell as a result of natural causes and is maintained in its organic shape, and the finish wood for our bar and benches is made from recycled stadium bleachers. And because this still felt insufficient, we will also be counterbalancing our annual carbon emissions by planting trees with Trees For the Future, a non-profit organization dedicated to the practice of agroforestry. While we may not yet be perfect, the conservation and care of our planet will always be a top priority for Double Decker PDX. We pledge to continue to do our part in the endeavor for environmental protection and remain continuously active in the effort to improve and increase our sustainability practices.
