Brooks Thompson and Kent Metcalf met while attending Lincoln High School in downtown Portland and have been in business together for the larger part of the last decade. Their previous company, TM Endeavors, offered mobile car detailing and residential window cleaning services, allowing them to establish a loyal and devoted customer base. They started Double Decker PDX during their final term of college in the Fall of 2009 after purchasing one of London’s iconic double decker busses. As they continue to renovate and restore the vehicle, Brooks and Kent remain passionate about maintaining the historic beauty and charm of the vehicle’s exterior while providing riders with a unique and sophisticated luxury, charter experience. Now living full time in Portland, Brooks and Kent’s shared work history, combined with their wide array of individual knowledge and personal skills, has already proven advantageous as they continue to focus their full time and energy into building and cultivating Double Decker PDX.
Brooks Thompson graduated from the University of Oregon in December 2009 with a degree in Planning, Public Policy, and Management with a minor in both Business and Economics. While in college, he attended the Lundquist College of Business’ Entrepreneurs Club and also spent the Fall 2007 semester studying abroad in Cologne, Germany. In addition to running TM Endeavors, Brooks has had the opportunity to work for a variety of different companies including Motoczysc Motorcycles where he gained a solid foundation of knowledge in the field of custom motorcycle development, and both R&H Construction and Hoffman Construction where he managed various teams and acquired experience in both construction and leadership. He was most recently employed by Glumac in the summer of 2009, where he learned about sustainable engineering.
Also a recent graduate of the University of Oregon, Kent Metcalf earned his degree in Business Finance with a minor in Economics. During college he was an active member of the national business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi, even serving in various leadership positions. In addition to co-founding and co-operating TM Endeavors, Kent has also gained a significant amount of work experience in a range of different fields. In the Summers of 2007 and 2008 he worked for NAU––a local Portland start-up company––where he learned the fundamentals of building a brand and starting a new business. In addition, Kent has worked as a client-contractor liaison for Metcalf Construction during which he cultivated his understanding of construction and gained experience in customer service, and was employed by the San Francisco based hedge fund Silver Lake Financial in the Summer of 2009, where he gained an understanding of the financial world through analyzing the financial performance of companies and projecting future performance.
